The other day I was walking in town when I happened across a member of the management committee. I smiled, said haribol and addressed them by name. All I received in return was a cold stare. My God, what a materialistic attitude, if you think you can force me to think like you by disowning me then you don't know me at all.
I'd rather live peacefully alone than to associate with people who want to control me.
Srila Gurudeva said:
There was once a demon named Mura, who was killed by Krsna.
This place, Murwillumbah, may be like that. I don’t want to hear that
the devotees in Murwillumbah are afflicted by the quarreling demon
named Mura. Never quarrel with anyone. Why quarrel? if anyone
wants anything from you, then donate to them whatever they want.
Ordinary people may quarrel about something due to their own
self-interest. But you are devotees and have been initiated by a good
devotee; so why are you all quarreling and not helping each other?
This is a big problem everywhere. I don’t want to hear quarrel-related
topics. Don’t give shame to real devotees. if you do not change, then
ordinary people will think, "Devotees always quarrel with each other;
they are all bogus."
I know husbands and wives in india who have lived together
without quarreling for eighty years. Sometimes they may have a lovequarrel,
but not a real quarrel. From now on, don’t cause any problems
for anyone.
What we need here is for EVERYONE to have their say while all the others attentively listen, no matter how long it takes. When everyone has spoken, we will know what the community wants and we should all ardently endeavour to achieve it. No arguements, no rebuttal, no political campaigning, no reprisals, no bad feelings, no mura demons, just accept it, whatever it is, and do our very best to implement it perfectly. Then, and only then will Srila Gurudeva sanction our activities.
Why?
Because that's what Srila Gurudeva wants from us.
In return, we get to become devotees.
How easy is that?
It's a spiritual bargain!
Joy to all beings
