If I were asked to write an introduction to the following newsflash, I would write: sometimes, if we let it, a little humour can shine an aura of brightness into our otherwise dull or busy days, yet that humour may also be the vehicle that delivers a poignant message about life.
Once, many years ago, I was permitted to fly an aeroplane (not land nor take off, just fly it). Due to so many influences upon the aircraft, moment to moment navigation of the craft was one of constant re-corrections. Pilot overcompensation, wind gusts, etc, events often conspired to steer the plane off course, a phenomenon that required constant vigilance.
So it is with our spiritual lives, especially with our communal spiritual lives since there are so many more influences at play, and as members of the local Bhakti Militia, fighting a war against Maya, various occulted pressures may be just below the surface of our minds.
I've heard it said that one who is his own guru has a fool for a disciple. Just how far and how often we embrace this principle of accepting directions from outside our own mind, is up to us, but let me point out that madness is often defined as, "Continuing the same actions whilst expecting a different result."
In other words, what we've done to get us here is not necessarily synonomous with what will get us to where we wish to be.
As pilots of our own souls, those who joyfully accept whatever warnings they glean from Newsflash may gain something if merely a laugh. On the other hand, those who take offence to its gentle advice, and doggedly adhere to their own directions may well find themselves a long way off course in a relatively short space of time.

Newsflash: A document leaked from the war office today reveals that grave fears are held for the occupants of a lifeboat foundering in the icy waters of the Sea of Maya.
Authorities confirmed today that little hope of rescue remains for survivors of the SS GGGM, an overturned Bhakti Militia troopship carrying troops and refugees through dangerous waters occupied by Maya Rebel forces in the Sea of Maya. Captain Dina Bhandu who chose to go down with his ship, often recognised as a wild, cantankerous, adamant individual whose sheer belief in the premise of Bhakti and in commitment to the Admiralty and guruseva brought us from barely nothing to the heights of our collective achievements. He will be fondly remembered as a brave administrator and one who worked tirelessly for the benefit of his crew.
His troopship got into desperate trouble when plans to create an unsuitable weighty superstructure caused instability. Many of the survivors have taken shelter in a lifeboat, yet despite commands by Admiral Narayana Maharaja, some seamen continue to row against other crew members due to arguements over plotting a course to safety. Some survivors, confused by their ordeal, have lost all hope, sitting almost lifeless, stoically awaiting death, refusing to row, preferring capture by the forces of the Maya Rebels over accepting responsibility and cooperation.
Insubordination to the chain of command among disoriented survivors is a continuing problem. Hampered by poor communications amongst crew members, mutiny has been noted as a clear and present danger in an already near hopless situation.
The current problems of non-cooperation stemmed from the election of an Able Seaman as coxswain to steer the lifeboat, and whilst it is recognised that he is a volunteer, his apparent lack of adherance to the commands of Admiral Narayana Maharaja, raises doubts as to the suitability of his methods within the ranks of the Bhakti Militia. There may be rumours that he could be an agent of Maya. He said in his defence, "The council have rejected our Development Application for a temple so we are submitting a DA for an office block." He has, however, been observed using similar deceitful, Maya style, politically motivated, fighting techniques in an attempt to suppress opposition to his plans. It is well known to staunch members of the Bhakti Militia that cheating is the heart of Maya. Assisted by a small group of puppets, the spy team appears to be dilligently in charge, but little ground has been gained. It is currently unclear whether any of the survivors is competent for the task of coxswain.
The Admiral's commands to tolerate and cooperate and to work it out amongst yourselves have been largely ignored, leading a handful of survivors to elect abandonning the lifeboat in favour of swimming for safety assisted by navy seal Vana Maharaja. Others have been seen to be developing hope in the assistance of other navy seals such as Tirtha Maharaja, Nimi Maharaja, Sridhar Maharaja, and a senior confidante of Admiral Narayana Maharaja, Uma Didi. It remains to be revealed just what, if anything, will develop from navy seal involvement. Rescue attempts by navy seals so far have proved unsuccessful. Many passengers are feared drowned or eaten by sharks.
Further concern is that children of drowned crew members and refugees alike may throw themselves into the Sea of Maya in an attempt to follow their parents.
A few survivors, attempting to float to safety in a Garden Ashram rubber raft may be in even greater danger. It is not yet proven that this type of craft is suited to these conditions. There are strong indications that this Garden Ashram raft may have been instrumental in the sinking of the SS GGGM. Due to it's high visibility, unseaworthiness, and attachment problems, control of the raft by Rebel Forces appears imminent. Skirmishes have already developed between Tweed Maya Council and Garden Ashram defenders. This is in spite of commands by Admiral Narayana Maharaja to "obey local laws".
A prayer vigil by relatives and well wishers of survivors is planned to be held at the cenotaph adjacent to the Mur-bah library in Tumbulgum Rd. All are invited to attend. Rescue attempts will resume at first light. Plans to salvage the SS GGGM appear to have been shelved.

Moves are afoot to locate and capture the quisling who disclosed the address of Subol prabhu's website to the Tweed Maya Council. A spokesperson for the Bhakti Militia called for punishment to the full extent of the law. The maximum penalty for such atrocities is for the culprit to be publicly dipped in a paste of ground mustard and chilly juice then deep fried in ghee and, while still screaming, fed to ravenous dogs.
